Overview of IPAR10

RACE DATE: June 19-20, 2010

Bushwhack Adventures is adding a twist to the Impossible Panther Adventure Race in 2010 - making it an overnight 14 hour event. The IPAR will be designed to give intermediate to advanced level adventure racers a chance to put their skills to the test while still having a blast on the course.

Teams will be mountain biking, trekking, orienteering and paddling for up to 14 hours as they navigate their way to checkpoint flags. Estimated distances in each discipline are: paddling 11-12 miles, trekking 8+ miles, biking 20+ miles. Your mileage may vary, depending on your team's navigation skills. :)

The course format will be modified rogaine style, with teams choosing which discipline they do first and having lots of freedom to choose the route they follow to find the checkpoints. The course will not be marked other than with the checkpoint flags themselves.

Scoring will be based on the accumulated point values of the checkpoints found. Points are awarded for each checkpoint found. Some checkpoints are worth more than others, so teams get to use their brains as well as their bodies as they work out a winning strategy for accumulating the most points!

Support crews are not required.

The event will start and finish at a location to be announced, in the Uwharrie National Forest. Check the Schedule for exact times. Expect some of the traditional Bushwhack perks like a technical race shirt, post-race meal, quality mytopo race maps and more!

Legalese:
This is an event that is being conducted on the Uwharrie National Forest and is authorized under a Special Use Permit.
